Jack Dorsey Says Banning Trump Isnt Something Twitter Celebrates

Just a few days ago, Twitter supposedly kicked off the trend for social media giants to block and ban Donald Trump from various platforms following the Capitol Hill riots. Hot New Hip Hop says Twitter, in other words, was the first social media organization to ban the president from using it, or at least his personal account.

Reportedly, Snapchat recently came out to say that they were going to ban the president of the United States of America from using the social sharing platform, as did YouTube, who said they were going to suspend his channel for at least seven days.

These actions against the president have sparked a lot of rage from anti-censorship proponents who say this action is a step in the wrong direction.

The argument is that now social media companies are wielding their power for what they deem to be the greater good, however, the future may see these same companies unfairly using their power against innovators and people who espouse controversial ideas.

On his account this week, the CEO and co-founder of Twitter claimed he didn’t take any pleasure in having to ban Trump from using their services. You can check out what Jack had to say in the post shown below:

As most know, this wouldn’t be the first time Jack Dorsey and Twitter have come under fire for censorship-like actions. During the days leading up to the 2020 presidential election, it was reported that Twitter had squashed a story that would’ve had a negative effect on Joe Biden’s run for the presidency.

Jack famously did an interview over Zoom with several Republican Senators and politicians, including Ted Cruz, who asked Jack if he thought Twitter had an impact on elections.

Jack responded that it didn’t because people had the choice to use other platforms if they chose. Ted looked at him incredulously. The conversation – as well as Jack Dorsey’s beard and nose-ring – later become a source for many memes on the internet.
